Fellowship in Neuroanesthesia

One fellowship position will be offered

Three faculty in the section of neuroanesthesia provide anesthetic care for neurosurgery. In addition, on a rotating basis, anesthetic care for some of the pediatric neurosurugery procedures is provided by members of the pediatric anesthesia section.

There are currently about 70 neurovascular operations annually, mostly aneurysm clipping, with some AVM resections and carotid endarterectomy procedures too. The remaining cases (about 500-600 per year) are the standard neurosurgical operations such as brain tumor resections, spine surgery, etc. There is an active pediatric neurosurgery service.

Research opportunities are available and the individual can split his time between clinical and research. Current research on mechanisms of CNS reperfusion injury and novel methods for measurement of cerebral blood flow is under the direction of Dr. Roth.
