Anesthesia supports Virtual Private Networking for remote access. AIRlink users can get to their files wherever they may be in the wired world.
NOTE: Follow the instructions below exactly. Windows 95 is not supported.
Mac OS X
If you are located outside of the University Network, install Virtual Private Network connection software and, after making a VPN connection to the University of Chicago, complete the following:
Click the Finder icon in the Dock (NOTE: The Finder is always the first icon)
From the Go menu select Connect to Server... (Apple+K)
An input box will appear
Type smb://acc-airlink.uchicago.edu/Users
You will be prompted for your login name and password. You must enter BOTH correctly. (The default User Name may not be your Anesthesia User Name.)
Click Connect
Windows
If you are located outside of the University Network, install Virtual Private Network connection software and, after making a VPN connection to the University of Chicago, complete the following:
From the Windows Desktop right-click My Computer
Select Map Network Drive...
A selection box will appear
For the Folder: type \\acc-airlink.uchicago.edu\users
Uncheck Reconnect at logon (optional)
Select Connect using a different user name
A secondary window will open:
For User Name: type Anesthesia\your user name
For Password: type your Anesthesia password
Click OK to close the secondary window
Click Finish
Open My Computer to find Users Note: the method is described for Windows 98 or higher.
